Abstract Guidelines

Submit Abstract

General Guidelines:

  • Conference registration (5th, 6th and 7th February 2027) is mandatory to present your paper/talk and e-poster.
  • Your abstract title and your abstract must be submitted in English. Your abstract may be automatically rejected if it is submitted in another language.
  • The title of the abstract must be of maximum 200 characters (approximately 30 words).
  • Abstracts must be of maximum 250 words, excluding title.
  • For original studies/case series or case report abstract should be structured with the following headings: Background & Objectives, Material & Methods, Results and Conclusions.
  • Please avoid using abbreviations in the title. Define an abbreviation upon first use.
  • Figures and tables should not be included in your abstract. They should be uploaded in .pdf format only.
  • Copyright permission report should be uploaded in .pdf format only.
  • References can be included in your abstract but will be included in your word count.
  • Do not include author names or any other identity in the abstract document upload area for blinding review / marking process. If any identity is indicated, abstracts will be rejected.
  • Please ensure that all the co-authors are added onto the submission form.
  • Please ensure correct spelling and affiliations are used, as later on it will not be amendable once abstracts have been submitted.
  • If required, KOACON 2027 will use the images and content of the abstract for teaching and educational purposes.
  • Abstract Start Date: 01/09/2026

Guidelines for Prof. J.S. Hegde Best Paper Award for KOA Members:
  • Consultants include practicing orthopedic surgeons or faculty (Senior residents / registrars and above) and should be KOA members.
  • Original scientific work should be selected where in majority of the work should be done by the presenting author and with adequate follow up of at least two years.
  • The paper presentation will be of 6 minutes duration with 2 minutes discussion. Case reports will not be accepted for this category.
  • The scientific work should not have been published yet.
Guidelines for Dr. P.K. Usman Best Case Report Award:
  • The award is open for trainees, consultants and faculty. Postgraduate trainees who are not members of KOA should obtain a certificate from their faculty co-author or HOD of their department.
  • No age limit.
  • Unique case reports of clinical relevance to Orthopaedics only are to be included for this award.
  • The case report should have a minimum of one-year follow up if applicable to be considered for the award.
Guidelines for Dr. Vilas Babu Best Poster Award:
  • The award is open for both trainees, consultants and faculty. Postgraduate trainees who are not members should obtain a certificate from their faculty co-author or HOD of their department.
  • No age limit.
  • Both full length original scientific work and case reports/case series can be included.
  • Physical poster should be according to. international standard dimensions.
  • E posters should have a maximum of 8 PowerPoint slides comprising introduction, aims and objectives, material and methodology, results, discussion and conclusions.
Guidelines for Prof. M. Shantharam Shetty Best Paper Award:
  • Trainees are Ortho residents (MS and DNB) Postgraduate trainees should obtain a certificate from their faculty co-author, unit chief or HOD of their department permitting them to present the scientific material.
  • The paper presentation will be of 6 minutes duration with 2 minutes discussion. Total of 7 papers will be presented in one hour session.
  • Case reports should not be included for this category.
  • The scientific work should not have been published yet.
